FAQ

How does Debt Settlement work?
Matrix Debt Relief will help design a savings plan that fits your budget based on the total amount of your debt. In addition, they negotiate settlements with your creditors that are a portion of what you owe. When you have accumulated enough money to completely settle a debt, you then authorize payment and that account is settled. This process will continue until your last account is settled and you are debt free.
Are Debt Settlement and Debt Consolidation the same?
No. With a debt settlement program, a skilled professional will negotiate on your behalf. You will only pay a portion of what you owe and complete the program in a few short years. Debt Consolidation on the other hand, requires you to secure a loan to pay off your debts. That means qualifying, paying upfront fees, closing costs and other expenses, possibly putting your home or other assets up as collateral and making payments that could last 10-20 years.
How do I qualify?
Debt Settlement is not for everyone. It requires a solid commitment to becoming debt free over a specific period of time (average 1-3 years depending on your debt) until your payments and savings plans are complete. A confidential consultation with one of our Debt Consultants will help you determine if debt settlement is right for you. Call us or enter your information to have a Debt Consultant get in contact with you to discuss our program.
Can I still use my credit cards?
In some cases we may suggest that you keep one low balance card to use just for emergency purposes, but any credit card that is included in the debt settlement program should not be used once you are accepted into the program. If you don't have a spare card, we can help you apply for one.
How does this affect my credit?
Honestly, if you are seeking solutions to improve your current situation, more than likely your credit has already been effected. Your high debt to income ratio is probably the problem. That's why it is important to seek the right kind of professional assistance. We can help you get back on track to becoming credit worthy again. Our goal is to help you get out of debt as quickly as possible while saving you money at the same time.
Will the information I give you remain confidential?
Yes. Matrix Debt Relief is bound by "Rules of Professional Conduct." In addition, we hold to a strict code of ethics and responsibility by providing you with full disclosure prior to enrollment. Our website is also a secured site and encrypts all of your information that is shared.
Can a creditor threaten me with litigation after I sign up?
Yes they can. However, that is where our trained professionals come in. Most often, creditors just want to get paid. It's up to us to negotiate how much.
Who are Matrix Debt Relief clients?
Hard working people just like you that have always tried to lead a good life. Because of unexpected situations, whether it is the loss of a job, divorce or a medical problem, they have accumulated a pretty serious amount of debt, especially unsecured debt. They are faced with what seems to be an often embarrassing and frightening situation where they can no longer keep up with their bills and there seems to be little hope that they will ever lower the balances on their credit cards.
Can I make extra deposits into my savings account?
Yes, you are encouraged to deposit additional funds into your account whenever possible. After all, it is your savings account. This will give additional leverage in negotiating more favorable terms for you with your creditors. It will also shorten the time period for you to become debt free.
What happens if I miss a deposit or a payment?
It is important to be 100% committed to the program. However, we do understand that setbacks occur. If that were to happen, we need to be notified beforehand so that we don't make commitments to your creditors that you cannot keep. It is extremely important to make up any missed deposits and try your best to stay on schedule.
